Inspiring and productive SynSys/Eurospin workshop in Amsterdam

Inspiring and productive SynSys/Eurospin workshop in Amsterdam on protein-protein interactions in the synapse.

On Oct 6 and 7, representatives of the SynSys and Eurospin consortia met in Amsterdam to define a joint path for the future and to streamline their activities regarding the analysis of protein-protein interactions in the synapse.

The two consortia aim to make their expertise and data available to each other and to join forces in finding new clustering algorithms to define the synaptic protein network. Three data-generating groups from Berlin, Göttingen and Amsterdam discussed ways how to make their large data collections available for internal use. Bioinformaticians from both consortia defined a procedure to process such large data-sets. Five computational groups from Edinburgh, Cambridge, Berlin and two groups from Amsterdam made commitments to integrate these data-sets into a synaptic network, using different clustering principles/algorithms.

The first week of March 2012, these five groups will present their draft networks in a next joint meeting in Berlin.
