Home > About CNCR

As of 2008, the Center for Neurogenomics and Cognitive Research (CNCR) is the operational branding name of Department for Neurosciences of the Faculty for Earth and Life Sciences (FALW) of the VU University Amsterdam, which was founded around 2000 and a logical continuation of our long standing history (dating back to 70s of last century) on Neurobiology.

The CNCR generates integrated research programs from genes to behavior, each combining mouse and human studies and as such with its many teamleaders operates as an expertise center of the Neuroscience Campus Amsterdam. Currently the chair of the CNCR, Prof. dr. Arjen Brussaard, acts as the research institute director of the Neuroscience Campus Amsterdam (www.neurosciencecampus-amsterdam.nl). In addition, the CNCR is the coordinating institute of several national (see www.neurobasic.com) and international consortia (see our international network).
